Walking .....

Made a set of Artist Trading Coins for a swap in UK Stampers Forum ......

I used die-cut 2.5 inch card circles mad from re-cycled packaging and use Distress inks to make a background.

I then stamped the swirls, chicken wire & butterflies in black Memento ink, colouring with alcohol inks.

I then added some gold gilding flakes over Quickie glue pen and added a sequin.  The Butterflies were highlighted with Glossy Accents.  Each Coin was edged in Versamagic chalk ink to finish.

In the round !

This card was inspired by the Craft Stamper Magazine  'Take It Make It' challenge for February where you are required to used stencils in your work.

I started by stencilling a background onto white card through a stencil.  The stencils used are old ones made by Tattered Angels.  I chose one and used low tack masking tape to hold it in place.  I used Distress Inks in rusty hinge and mustard seed to stencil the background which when heat set was stamped with a Zettiology stamp in Archival black ink.  This was trimmed out and heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder.  I then added a few bits of white Posca pen round the eyes and a touch of pink alcohol ink on the lips with a pen.

I then used a white 5 x 5 inch cardblank and again selected another mask, attached with masking tape and coloured with more distress Inks in crushed olive, rusty hinge, mustard seed and old paper.  The inks were added with cut'n'dry foam.

I then selected a corner stamp from Elusive Images and stamped this in each corner of the card with sepia Archival ink, filling in the crocuses with the same pink alcohol ink pen.  I then used a Quickie glue pen over the pink crocuses and applied some Glamour Dust for a sparkle.

Some brads were added to the design as shown.

The sentiment is from Papertrey ink and was stamped in Memento black ink on a piece of white card followed by colouring with Distress Inks and once more heat embossing with clear embossing powder.

The central image was placed on foam pads and the sentiment stuck in place as shown.

Leaf & Branch

Love some of the dies that you can use through a diecut machine !!  The main image on this simple card is one of my favourites and is quite intricate.  It's by Marianne Designs and was diecut from lichen green textured card through the Sizzix Big Shot.

A strip of coloured striped paper (reminds me of the Paul Smith signature stripe) actually from a 6 x 6 inch paper pack from Websters Pages was cut, edged with green alcohol ink and stuck in place at the near bottom of a 12 x12 cm plain white card.

The die-cut tree was then stuck in place with Quickie glue pen.  The printed sentiment was edged with the same alcohol ink pen and mounted as shown on foam pads. I am also entering this card into The Craftroom Challenge for this month which is Trees and/or leaves.

No stamping on this one for a change !

Making Waves

This has been in the making for a long, long time. The real scallop shell was decorated months ago and has sat around since then waiting for attention.  Because of the shells links with the sea I wanted to do some craft related to that environment so did this 3D scape.  All contained in its own shell home.

The shell was thoroughly washed and then painted with stripes in Viva precious metal colour in gold and turquoise.  It took a couple of coats to cover properly. The edges of the shell were then gone over with gold Krylon pen to neaten.  Some acrylic gems were adhered around the edge of the shell with more Glossy Accents and alternate gems coloured with the brush pen in green.

All stamped elements (apart from the waves) came from a plate of polymer stamps by Pink Paislee (Nantucket).  The shell, seahorse, word seal and words were all stamped on white card with Memento tuxedo black ink which were then coloured with Marvey alcohol brush pens before trimming out and edging with AI to cover white card edges.  A word seal and two seahorses were glazed with Glossy Accents.

The sea was made up from a border stamped multiple times on printed paper, trimmed and layered and edged with a Quickie glue pen and glittered with transparent blue water Art Glitter.

Some fused green sizal was cut into frond shapes before assembling and layering all elements as shown with hot melt glue to make a 3d seaside scene.

The shell has been supported for display using a plate holder.

It turned out just as I had envisaged it and it was great to use up that shell !!  You know what they say ......... 'Better Late Than Never'

It will also fit the challenge over on the Happy Daze Design Team blog this month which is 'April Showers' and the Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge which is 'Anything Goes'

Festive Fir

Well Christmas is nearly upon us and although I am not fanatical about the festive season I feel obliged (as we do), to do some festive creations.  This one uses a diecut tree as the central piece and I have grunged up the surroundings with Distress inks and traditional colours.

I started with the a maroon card diecut tree and used a Quickie glue pen to draw on some swirls.  Once the swirls had dried clear I sprayed liberally with a home-made mica spray made from silver mica powder a drop or two of gum arabic solution and some pine needles Distress re-inker - I usually spray in a pizza box to avoid the spray going everywhere!  The glue swirls seem to attract the colour but not the mica and provide a nice effect whilst some of the background maroon colour still shows through.  I then inked a small swirl stamp (Crafty Individuals) with Versafine onyx black ink and stamped randomly over the mica background.  I then applied dots of pink Stickles around the edges of the tree and put it aside whilst I made the background.

I took a piece of heavy pink card and trimmed to size and applied pine needles and barn door Distress ink with cut'n'dry foam keeping the top half of the card more green and the bottom more red.  I stamped an Xmas plate in vintage sepia Versafine a couple of times as seen, a baubles border stamp in onyx black and a Christmas swirl in barn door Distress ink as shown.  All these stamps are from PaperArtsy

I spattered water drops randomly onto the plate and dried with the heat gun before adding pink & aqua Stickles to the spots in the baubles. A circle outline stamp (Artistic Stamper) was inked in galaxy gold Brilliance and applied a few times as seen whilst 2 acrylic poinsettia circles were stuck in place top right. The whole plate was edged with galaxy gold applied direct. The tree was then applied on foam squares as shown.

Another fuschia card plate was cut 1/2 inch bigger all round and this was edged in TH Tissue Tape leaving a 1/16 inch border at the outside edge.

That's it, my first Xmas offering for 2010 !

'Rolling Recipe' Tag 3

This is the third tag in the 'Rolling Recipe' series. This weeks had to have a stamped floral image, text and buttons.

Because it's so close to Valentines Day I decided to do a rather different Valentine Tag ........... all greens instead of the usual reds and pinks. All stamps are from Elusive Images.

The card base is white coated card and I have applied layers of Distress inks in shabby shutters, peeled paint and pine needles with a blending tool & cut'n'dry foam. I have then stamped some of the flourishes with the stamp moistened with just a spritz of water from a mini mister. This has almost had a bleached effect on the background colours (see below). Other flourishes were stamped with peeled paint Distress Ink until the effect was to my liking.

The heart was stamped on moss green card with black Stazon and then the design gone over with a Quickie Glue Pen and allowed to dry before applying green and gold transfer foils over the top. This was trimmed with scissors and mounted on foam pads as shown.

The word 'Love' was stamped twice with onyx black Versafine ink as shown.

Five lime green plastic buttons, graduating in size were stamped with the centre of a daisy stamp in olive green Stazon before sticking in place with Glossy Accents at the base of the tag. The holes were filled with sage Appli Glue.

Finishing touches were to add a lime flower eyelet with the crop-a-dile and a length of dark green eyelash yarn tied in a knot through the eyelet.
