A Quilted Table Runner

Decided to do a table runner this time and it measures 97 x 39 cms.

This time I decided to try a charm pack which is a collection of matching colours of pre-cut squares of 5 inch.  The fabric is by Moda.

Lots of cutting with a rotary cutter and sewing the squares together.

This time I used a fusible batting and the quilt back was made from material from a deconstructed 100% cotton duvet cover.

So onwards and upwards !

Birdie Postcard

Here is my postcard for this months UK Stampers Forum swap.  The background is printed paper treated with Versamark ink and brushed over with Perfect Pearls in blue and pink to give an iridescent effect (not easy to see in the pic).

I then stamped the base of the card with Adirondack watermelon pigment ink and a swirly stamp.  I then used some Dylusions stamps by Ranger to stamp the leaves and birdies in Memento black ink.

The birdies were infilled with some Sakura jellyroll gold pens. Some further detail was added with a black Pigma micron pen.

A piece of spotty Washi tape was added above the swirls and three card candi minis were added with Glossy Accents on the left.

The finished design was adhered to a piece of stout card cut to 6 x 4 inches which was then edged with fired brick Distress Ink applied with some cut'n'dry foam. It was sprayed with a matte acrylic varnish to protect in transit through the post naked.

Square Sampler Quilt

Told you I was doing more quilting !  Here is a nine square sampler quilt I have made and it measures 70 cm square.  All the materials were bought in John Lewis at half price and I used a tube method which was sewn together and then cut to form squares which in turn were assembled to give this double egg-timer effect.

As previously reported I am a lot more accurate even though it's still not perfect.  What the heck ...... I am enjoying the journey anyway.

The quilt back was made with a green material and it was quilted with warm & natural all cotton batting.  The whole thing was done on my Janome machine.

Sprout a Smile Card

Made a quick card using Spellbinder dies cut through my Sizzix machine in orange, a plain white card and a piece of 6 x 6 inch printed paper.

The sentiment was stamped in sepia Versafine and some edging added with alcohol marker with a touch of glitter glue.  The fern and flower were mounted on foam pads. Simples !

Be Happy Postcard

Here is my entry for a postcard swap over on UK Stampers Forum.  This month it is an open theme and I prepared my background on a 6 x 4 inch piece of white card trimmed to size with a guillotine..

I used acrylic paints and a sponge to apply blue, magenta and cream paints.  Once happy with the effect I then stamped with Stazon Gold ink a dotty overlay.  Over this were stamped the bee image (Pink Paislee) and the pennants (Papertrey Ink) in Memento tuxedo black ink..  Another text stamp (Paper Artsy) was stamped in fired brick Distress ink.

Next a strip of Washi tape was applied at the top and a strip of TH Tissue Tape at the bottom along with some paper lace.  These were lightly stamped over with the bee stamp again with Memento tuxedo black ink..

The bees body was coloured with a gold Posca pen to highlight.

All edges were coloured with more fired brick Distress Ink applied with cut'n'dry foam after the edges of the postcard were rounded with a corner rounder punch.  A light coat of matt acrylic spray sealer was applied to protect it in transit to it's recipient as it has to travel 'naked' through the post.

Crazy Square Quilt Sampler

Now I am on a quilting roll I thought I would use some fat quarters I bought 3 years ago in making a crazy square.

I started with an irregular pentagon and then worked outwards adding more fabric until the desired square size was accomplished, trimming each section off with a rotary cutter before adding another section of material.  I then added soft & natural batting and a lime green quilt bottom before sewing around the inside of each piece of fabric in blue thread.  The quilt was then trimmed to size and finished in the same lime green binding.

The finished sampler is 19 inches square and I used my Janome machine for all the sewing. I enjoyed the exercise immensely and now need to do more !!

Trying To Be Good

This quick card was made with the simple idea of using torn papers from a 6 x 6 inch pad by Prima called 'Rondelle'.

I used three papers, the base (spotty brown on pink) was cut with a guillotine and mounted directly onto a 12 cm square white card base with double sided adhesive.

Next two other papers were trimmed to size and torn around the edges to approximate size.  Their edges were then coloured with a lime green alcohol pen. These were assembled onto the base with foam pads.

The flower was made with die-cuts which were glittered and layered with a small lime green brad.  The petals were shaped with fingers to give a bit of dimension.

The main image (Paper Artsy) was stamped in Memento onyx black onto white cardstock, trimmed and then coloured with alcohol ink markers to reflect the colours in the papers.  This final layer was added as shown with more foam pads.

Baby Quilt

I have wanted to do some quilting for a long time, so recently I got myself together and made this little quilt as a cot quilt for a friend who has just been blessed by having a baby girl.

This crafty activity made me realise just how important accuracy in measuring, cutting and sewing is when making a quilt.  It certainly was a learning curve but very enjoyable too !

I have kept it simple with just squares quilted on the diagonal.  The back is plain pink cotton and all was sewn by machine.

I have more in mind and have already bought some striped cottons in readiness.

Crowning Glory

Here is a 6 x 4 inch postcard I have made for a swap over on UK Stampers .  The swap is a monthly one with a theme - this one is hats - and the finished postcard has to be able to be sent 'naked' through the post to the recipient.

I have used 6 x 6 papers from the Prima 'Welcome to Paris' pad with stamps from PaperArtsy.  Edges of all mats were coloured with fired brick Distress Ink and the words were printed out on the computer.

Finishing touches were added with a silver Posca pen and a coat of Decoart Matte Sealant to protect it in transit.

Counting in Buttons

Here is another card made on a Kraft Card Base and cut to make a square card measuring 13.5 cm.  This time I have used printed papers in brick red, pink and olive to compliment the Kraft base.

The base layer was machine stitched as a contrast with other pieces layered on top to build the design. The flag bunting is die cut from thin white card and coloured with pink Copic marker with a finishing coat of fine clear glitter added for a bit of bling.  This was mounted on foam pads as shown.

The main image of button girl was stamped with Memento black ink and paper pieced with more decorative paper for her pants.  The image was coloured with Copics and trimmed and attached on more foam pads.  The sentiment was also stamped, trimmed and applied on pads.

Three buttons were tied through with pink jute string and stuck in place with Glossy Accents whilst the blingy faux diamantes were added at the base of the card to finish.
