World Traveller ......

This tag was made for a monthly Swap over on the UK Stampers Forum Facebook Group .....

I started with a manilla tag and used Distress inks to make a background.  I used mainly blue inks applied to a glass mat and sprayed with water.  I built up some layers (drying in between with a heat tool) and then applied more water drops until happy.

I then stamped an image in Archival black ink as shown.  I sprayed with a gold mica spray leaving some larger pools of spray to dry.  I used a black decorative rub-on at the top right.

The butterfly was die-cut, painted with turquoise metallic paint, decorated with gold Stickles Glitter Glue, and applied on a glue dot leaving the wings free. I then added an gold metal plate centrally with the words 'Travel The World'. The tag was edged in blue Versamagic chalk ink.

Finally I added a piece of gold woven ribbon held in place with a staple.

If you would like to join in the swap click HERE to go to UK Stampers Forum where you can join our friendly group of crafters.......

Twin Tags

Here are a couple of Kraft tags I made.  I used Dylusions sprays to colour the tags with a red and a green, drying with a heat gun.

I then used a Dylusions stamp and Versamark ink which I heat embossed with a pastel green opaque embossing powder.

Extra detail was added with a barbed wire stamp and a flower stamp which I inked in Archival black ink.

Final touches were to add some red Dimensional Pearls to represent holly berries, white blobs in the flower centres with a Posca marker and the sentiment was stamped in moonlight white Brilliance ink.

Some Stickles glitter glue was added on the petals to add a bit of bling and they were tied through with red, white and green bakers twine.

I thought these added a different dimension to Christmas gift tags.

An Umbrella In The Rainforest Isn't Much Use !

This tag was done as my entry into the Stampotique Designers Challenge which this time is entitled 'Oodles of Doodles'.  The base is a plain manilla tag which I have sprayed with Summer Inks by Sticky Fingers in yellow & green, building up layers until happy with the colour.

The leaves on the background were applied through a stencil with vintage sepia Distress Ink applied with Cut'n'dry foam. The Stamptique stamp is one by Jill Penney & Daniel Torrente called Relaxin' and it was this that inspired me to write the caption 'Why am I sat in a Rain Forest??' I just love the image.

I decided to stamp the image in Memento tuxedo black directly onto the coloured tag and then use some Marvey alcohol ink brush pens to selectively colour some of the image. Think the effect is a bit reminiscent of the 'Predator' films where the creature appears to be part of the foliage. I then set to work with Posca pens in black, white, blue and yellow and doodled to my hearts content so all other edging and the words along with some raindrops were added freehand.

Finishing touches added some lime green satin ribbon, some moss green cord and a small length of iridescent cord threaded with a few green foiled leaves through the tag top.

So don't expect a brolly to work well in the rainforest !! (not that I've ever been there, of course).

Old & New Tags

My 'Old' Tag

My 'New' Tag

It seems like ages since the New Year began, what with work and all that goes with it !!.......... however.........

Here are a couple of tags done for the UK Stampers Sunday Challenge. This weeks challenge was to do two tags using the same stamp on each, but using any other stamps also in the theme of old and new.

I used for the 'old' tag:
  • Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade, Aged Mahogony)
  • Old book Paper
  • Gold and Claret EP's
  • Distress EP (Worn Lipstick)
  • Stamps (Dovecraft 'Laura Ashley' background & Paper Artsy Alphas)
  • Assorted Fibres & Ribbon
  • Manilla Tag
  • Versafine Ink (Onyx Black)
  • Versamark Ink
  • Versamark Pen

The tag was covered at the bottom with two pieces of torn book paper then the distress ink was applied and blended with cut 'n' dry foam. The main stamp was stamped twice with the versafine. Some versamark ink was smeared over the bottom left corner and Distress EP added before heat embossing with a heat gun. The 2008 was stamped with versamark and heat embossed with Claret EP. The 'old' was applied with versafine ink also. The versamark pen was used to dot the stamped image and go around the word and gold EP was then applied and heat embossed. Finally some fibres were added to complete.

I used for the 'new' tag:

  • Distress Inks (Pine Needles, Shabby Shutters & Spiced Marmalade)
  • Old book paper
  • Gold & Verdigris EP's
  • Stamps (Dovecraft 'Laura Ashley' background and Paper Artsy Alphas)
  • Assorted Fibres
  • Manilla Tag
  • Versafine Ink (onyx black)
  • Versamark Ink
  • Versamark pen

The tag was coloured with Distress inks using cut'n'dry foam. two pieces of torn old book paper were added centrally and inked. The background was stamped top and bottom this time. The tag was then finished as the other but using verdigris EP for the year.

Hope you like them :-)
