Greatest Dad

Seem to be going through a phase of making cards for men.  Here is one I have made recently using printed papers. It starts with a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

All elements have been selected, trimmed to size and edged with dye inks before sticking in place with wet glue.  Needed a bit of planning the overall layers and shapes of papers before assembling.

A piece of numeric Washi tape was applied across the bottom of the card and the plate was trimmed out and mounted on foam pads after using Glossy Accents on the word.

Easter Bunny Box

Happy Easter Monday to you all !!

Here is a little Easter ornament I made with crafty friends at a weekend retreat in Skipton. Great for displaying eggs and the like in a box suspended between two Easter Bunnies with fluffy tails.  It measures 19 x 13 x 7 cms and is made from very heavy greyboard using Sizzix XL dies for the bunny and the box between.

I used papers from the Lawn Fawn double sided 'Fruit Punch' range which have a zingy bright look to them.  The pieces of greyboard were first covered both sides with the selected papers and then diecut.

Next the box was diecut out of greyboard, folded and covered with more papers from the range.

The box was stuck in place to support the two bunnies to complete the construction.  Decorations were then added ...... a ribbon collar was tied in place and a daisy flower with leaves was applied both sides with hot melt glue.  A shiny acrylic 'Eye' was stuck in place and a fluffy bunny tail pom-pom added at the rear.

The decoration was filled with mini chocolate eggs and foiled chocolate treats to finish.

Bright, decorative and tasty all at the same time !!

Polka Dotty ......

Happy Easter Sunday everyone (even though we have lost an hour in the UK due to the clock going forward).

Here is a card I created which meets the Less is More Challenge week 269 whose theme is 'Polka Dots'.

I used an easel fold plain white card blank as the base.  I trimmed two white mats and covered one in polka dot Washi tape in various colours on the diagonal to fill the matt.

This was then diecut centrally with a stitched star die and applied over the other matt.

The cut out star was again diecut with a smaller die producing the resultant star which was rotated and stuck in place on foam pads over the star aperture.

The matt was applied onto the base card and the sentiment 'Shine' stamped in Versafine onyx black ink to finish.

Dad Knows Best

Here is another 6 x 6 inch card for a Father.  It uses printed papers and stickers along with snippets of tissue tape and embellishments.

The base paper is red metallic squares.

The stickered words are stuck on a matted plate raised on foam pads and the hearts are matt metal brads.

Wedded Bliss

Happy Easter everyone and especially for those getting married at this time.

Here is a wedding card I made on this Good Friday.  I used a white card blank as a base and I cut a smaller matt in more white card in which I diecut a stitched heart aperture.  This matt was then embossed with a Stampin' Up embossing folder through the Sizzix Bigshot.

The aperture was backed in a cloudy blue printed paper before sticking onto the front of the card.

Another smaller stitched heart was diecut from more of the printed paper, glittered with crystal Stickles glitter glue and mounted on foam pads in the aperture.

Finishing touch was to stamp the sentiment on more blue printed paper in blue dye ink, trim out and mount on more foam pads. Finally some blue acrylic gems were added as shown.

One for the Guys

Thought that this card would be great for a man.  I used a cream 4 x 4 inch scalloped card base to start.  All papers used came from a 6 x 6 pad by Kaisercraft (Sears & Son)

I first stamped the base card with a compass stamp in brown dye ink.  Papers were then selected, cut and trimmed out to make a collage of layers as shown. All stuck in place with acrylic glue.

Final touches were to add the sentiment which was preprinted on cream card and to stick a metal key in place with hot glue.

What a View ...........

Here we go with another CAS card.  I started with a plain white square card blank 5.5 x 5.5 inches and selected a tree stamp from Wendy Vecchi (Studio 490) and stamped on a slightly smaller matt of white card in Versafine onyz black ink.  This was stuck onto the card front.

I then added a number of coloured pearl cabochons as shown.  The sentiment was also stamped in Versafine ink and trimmed out.  I then rounded the corners and applied on foam pads.  Final touch was to edge the outer card with a wavy line using a Micron pen with a little dot at the corners.

Fun Guys ........

Very corny title I know but I couldn't resist using it.

Here are a couple of themed cards I made using the same stamps from Lavinia.  One with colour and the other monochrome.  Both were done in clean and simple style and stamped direct to white card blanks.

On the coloured one I used Versafine onyx black ink for the mushrooms and 'Just For You' sentiment and coloured the spots with Sakura coloured pens, finishing with spots of diamond Stickles glitter glue on top.

The monochrome one was stamped in more Versafine with the sentiment in Memento dove grey dye ink with more Stickles.  I added two strips of decorative tape at the bottom of the card.

I used a corner chomper to round all card edges to finish.

Spring Colours PC

I used some Sizzix stamps paired with dies to produce this postcard.  Each month over on the UK Stampers Forum we have a postcard swap and this is mine for March.  The theme this time is Spring Colours.  It's free to join the forum and there are a number of swaps going on in which you may want to join in on.  It's a relatively small  and friendly community but you are all welcome to come onboard.

I used a hessian effect background paper to cover a white card blank measuring 6 x 4 inches.  Then set about stamping the images in various Brilliance inks which have an opalescent shimmer.  I then die-cut them through the Sizzix and used a Micron black pen to edge them.  I stuck them in place on the card base and added stems in green Sakura pen.  Final touches were to add the sentiment stamped directly in Memento black ink and then I sprayed the card with some matt acrylic sealer to protect it through the postal system as it goes 'naked', i.e without an envelope to it's recipient.

Take Flight

Hi there !  Made this card without any stamping at all !

I started with a white 5.5 x 4 inch easel topfold card base.

I used papers and adhesive stickers from the Kaisercraft Bow & Arrow collection which has a very American Indian theme.  I thought that some diecut feathers would go nicely and so that is what I used hence the origin of the 'Take Flight' words.

I trimmed and arranged papers and sticker borders to design the card.

I chose two papers from which to die cut the feathers from and shaped these before adding to the card.

Finishing touch was to add the alpha stickers and underline each with black Micron Pen.

Butterfly Birthday .......

Here is a card to help you send celebratory birthday wishes to a loved one.  I tried to keep it very simple with minimal materials and design elements. A softly coloured butterfly and some minimal stamping in monochrome colour is the essence here !

I started with a 5.5.x 4 inch top fold card and covered with a matt of printed paper as the base.  I then cut another slightly smaller matt from white card.

This was then stamped with Adirondack butterscotch dye ink using grungy stamps from Stampin' up. The matt was then edged with cut'n'dry foam using the same ink.

The butterfly was punched and again edged in the same dye ink had it's wings shaped and body accentuated with a couple of yellow shiny gems.  It was adhered with acrylic glue as shown.

Finally I stamped the words 'Happy Birthday' on the same printed paper in Versafine onyx black ink, matted on white card and applied with more glue onto the card.

Simple is sweet very often !  This card is available for sale in my Etsy Shop.

Loving Heart

Beautiful day outdoors today.  Here is another little with love card with a hint of pink made from a white card blank with a top easel fold.  It measures 5.5 x 4 inches.

I took a piece of white card and used a stitched heart die to cut an aperture as shown.  Behind this I applied a small piece of pink card before passing the matt through the Sizzix Big Shot in a spotty embossing folder.

This was then mounted on the card front.  Another smaller heart was die cut in rose pink glitter card and this was mounted into the aperture on foam pads.

The sentiment was stamped in black Versafine ink onto white card which was trimmed and again mounted on foam pads to finish.

I like the simplicity and all the white space on this card and it really shows off that heart aperture with plain and glittery pink.

This card is available for sale in my Etsy store.

Believe .........

Love 'Shades of Green' as a colourway for fresh looking cards so I decided to make this fantasy card featuring these colours.  The contrast of black against the colours really makes the main image pop !

I started with a white card blank with a top easel fold.  I then cut a matt out of lime green card and layered this onto the card front. I cut another smaller matt from white card and coloured this with Adirondack dye inks on cut'n'dry foam through a butterfly stencil, layering with various shades of green.

I selected a Lindsey Mason silhouette acrylic stamp, inked in Versafine onyx black ink and stamped directly onto the stencilled matt.  The matt was then stuck in place on the card front.

I stamped the sentiment onto more lime green card in Versafine onyx black and trimmed this out before matting onto white card, trimming again and sticking in place.

I then adhered some green acrylic gems onto the card front to finish.  I like the clean lines set off with some bling on the finished card.  Hope you do too !  This card meets the Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge for March whose theme is 'Anything Goes'.

Fruity Flight ........

This card was made for this weeks challenge over on the Less is More Blog where you are required to use citrus colours in your card creation.

I kept it clean and simple and started with a white card blank trimmed on the top side on the right to reveal the back of the card.  I attached a piece of orange Washi tape on the back left to add a bit of colour.

I then selected 3 colours of textured cardstock in orange, lime and yellow and punched out a number of butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch.

These were embellished with a clear jewel, shaped and stuck in place with glue as shown representing a 'flight' of butterflies.

Finally I stamped the sentiment in black Versafine ink............Clean, fresh and fruity !  This card is available to buy in my Etsy Store.

Color My World

Here's a simple CAS card I made.  It uses a white card blank, embossing folders, Alcohol Ink Markers, a diecut heart and a sentiment stamp (with Versafine black ink) !  I used spring colours to break the white and edged the heart with a black Alcohol ink marker.

The heart was mounted on foam pads to finish.

Magic Stars

Happy March everyone and it's certainly been cool but bright weatherwise so far !

Recently made a card using a 4 x 5.5 inch tentfold card the base of which was made from dual coloured card with an overlay decorated matt cut slightly smaller in white card.

For the background I used a set of Tim Holtz stamps called Bitty Grunge and stamped in various colours of Impress Dye inks using Chartreuse, Tangerine, Poppy Red, Celeste Blue and Peony Purple.  The black was all stamped in onyz black Versafine.

I stamped randomly with a grungy star stamp in black also.

Once complete I diecut on the Sizzix 3 sizes of stars from assorted coloured card to match the inks.

These were layered as shown and then hand decorated with designs in white and black Posca markers.

The centres were embellished with a black cabochon and they were then arranged on foam pads as shown. The sentiment was stamped in black Versafine ink to complete. This card is available for sale in my Etsy Store.
