Cherry Ripe ........

Been doing a bit of machine embroidery lately with my Singer Futura XL400 machine which has been mothballed for a while.  I used cream calico as the base for this cushion and it makes a super base material where you want to focus on the design (I used a tearaway stabiliser in the hoop during the embroidering).

I embroidered a large cherry design which was free from Embroidery Library Inc . They have a free weekly giveaway and all you need to do is register !  They also have loads of designs that you can buy.  I used polyester thread from Madeira for the sewing.

Thought this one was nice and fresh looking so used it as the centre on the cushion front.  Once embroidered I used a Greek key fancy stitch in red thread to frame the design and added a small red button on each corner of the border.  The cushion measures 16 x 16 inches.

Sweet Lemon ?

Ages since I have done any crafting ....... mojo has been on its hols I think.  This card is on a Kraft base and I have incorporated a machine embroidered lemon (made on my Singer machine) as the focal point.

The mats are made from Tilda papers.  I have used Versamark ink along with gold Perfect Pearls to make the green mat with a starry stamp.  Once layered I added the embroidered piece and a strip of spotty pink adhesive ribbon tape as shown.

Two lime buttons were threaded through with pink cotton and these are placed either side of a stamped image saying 'so sweet'. Couldn't resist mixing sweet with sour !!

3 blobs of Glossy Accents were used to accent the lemon to finish.

This will fit the bill for the theme over on City Crafter Challenge Blog this week 216 the theme being 'fruits'.

Back in Circulation

Well it's been quite a time time since I posted on my long negleted blog.  Various reasons have caused this, one of these has been that I have recently started machine embroidery !  I bought a Singer Futura XL400 machine.

Quite a learning curve getting everything just right but after many hours of trial and tribulation (not without it's funny side I might add !) I have made some interesting pieces of embroidery.

Today I have embroidered two little houses with gardens onto felt squares.  The first is on brown felt and the second on lime green felt.  I find felt a wonderful medium to embroider on.  I always use a tearable stabiliser to assist with support of the top and bottom threads during the embroidery process.

Hope you like them. Must start doing some papercraft now too so watch this space !!
