This clean and simple card was made for the challenge over at The Less Is More challenge blog for this week which is to follow a sketch. Why not pop on over there to see the sketch and enter ?
I know the title is weird but I really couldn't find my bee stamp as I wanted to make the wording say 'Bee Line'. I could only find a wasp stamp, so looked at the word associations and ended up with the words 'Wasp Waste' Hope that provides an explanation.
I started by making a white card blank.
I cut a piece of heavy yellow vellum as shown, adhered a length of narrow black velvet ribbon on double sided tape before sticking in place. The ribbon covered up the spots of glue behind.
The wasp stamp is by Tim Holtz and was stamped on a light yellow card plate in Memento onyx black ink. The wasp was coloured with alcohol ink markers and given a gloss with Glossy Accents before mounting as shown on foam pads.
The word were printed on black Dymo tape and adhered with a short length of complimentary velvet ribbon between.

Cool! The glossy accents on the wasp make it look lifelike :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sid, just saw your link over at Inkspired to Stamp, and popped over to enjoy your work. It's refreshing to find a fella doing art work. (My DH used to dabble, but he got bored with it, sadly). I got a big kick out of your sentiment. It's really clever and so cute with the image. Like the clean bold style of your cards, and will become your newest follower. I see some of my blog buddies have left comments. Hope you'll find time to pop over & visit me. TFS

The glossy accents on the wasp are very effective. Super take on the sketch. x
ReplyDeleteLove your "Wapsie" and the way you have done him, he looks kind of majestic. Not too sure I understand "Wasp Waste" but I do notice he has a very slim "waist". Great design and interpretation of the sketch.
