Colour My Heart ......

Love is in the air !  This Valentine card could also be used as a love card.

I started with a 5 x 7 inch white card blank and I worked directly onto this.  I took a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz inksplat stamp and stamped multiple times in red, yellow, green & blue Impress dye ink.  At the same time I inked more white card direct to card in each of the colours.

I then die-cut 4 stitched hearts from the card I had previously coloured and mounted the hearts over the inksplats on foam pads.

I added a coloured pearl cabochon on each of the hearts as shown and stamped the sentiment on white card in Versafine black ink. I trimmed this out out, edged with more black ink and mounted on more foam pads to finish.

This card has been entered into the That's Crafty Challenge Blog for February whose theme is 'I Heart You'.

Heart Flower

Another Valentines card from me today in the CAS style.

I took a 4 x 4 inch square white card blank and cut a slightly smaller matt in white card on which to work.

I stamped the plant pot and stem (Beth Hughes) and wiped off the ink from the flower.  I then diecut a heart in pink spotty paper, sticking in place on stem in place of the flower.  The pot was 'grounded' with a few lines added with black Micron pen.

The matt was edged by hand in a dot-dash scribble using a pink Posca Marker.

The sentiment was stamped on white card in Versafine black ink, trimmed out and matted on more of the pink spotty paper before mounting on foam pads as shown.  The matt was then applied to the front of the card on foam pads.

You Had Me .......

Valentines season is upon us so I have been busy making cards for this.  I dug out some old stamps (loads of these in the collection) for this card too.

I took a 5 x 7 inch white card blank and cut a slightly smaller matt in white card on which design on. I used a Paperbag Studios stamp, inked up with Memento black in and coloured the top heart with alcohol ink markers and then added a pink pearl to it.

I then took a black Micron pen and doodled some scribbles around the card matt.

I then stamped the sentiment (Some Odd Girl - Everyday Smiles) in black Versafine ink onto a piece of white card, trimmed this out then edged with black ink before applying raised on foam pads.  The matt was then applied to the front of the card on more foam pads to finish.

Almost a CAS card !

Follow My Heart ....

I have a lot of materials but have not really made many multimedia pieces in the past. This multimedia piece is on a piece of compressed wood measuring 6 x 6 inches.

I started by spreading a fairly thick coat of Viva Decor Croco Crackling Colour (try saying that fast !!).  I used Bronze, Platinum, Gold & Turquoise.  I applied it in blocks which blended a little where they touched.  I must say they really did 'crackle' when they had dried (around 12 hours drying time). I quite like the way the raw wood shows through the cracks in places and I did originally think about gessoing the wood base first but decided against it.

I then took an old Tim Holtz design die from Sizzix called 'Heart Wings' and diecut the design out of kraft card.  I embossed the wings through an embossing folder and then painted them in gold acrylic paint.  Once dry I highlighted the embossing with some pink pearlescent acrylic paint.  The solid back of the heart I covered in Tim Holtz Tissue Tape whilst the swirly front of the heart I gave a couple of coats of the same pink pearlescent acrylic paint and when dry edging with a black Posca pen.  The crown was painted in silver acrylic paint and 5 self adhesive crystals were added after edging with dots in black Posca pen.

Before I attached the wings and heart I inked a rubber alphabet stamp in black Stazon and stamped randomly on the crackle finish.  I didn't use a block but applied directly with my fingers as the surface was so uneven.

The wings were applied with hot glue and I raised them on foam pads, followed by the heart back then the heart front again raised on foam pads.  The crown was also applied on foam pads.

I then stamped the sentiment on white card in black Versafine and applied as shown with more hot glue.  I edged the whole thing with Washi Tape.  I also added a hanger made from florists wire stuck in place at the back with hot glue to finish the piece. I have also entered my creation into The Artistic Stamper February Challenge whose theme is 'Hearts'.

I really enjoyed making it and it has got me thinking about more multimedia in future.  Hope you like it.

Colour Theme Card

This card was made as an entry for this months Colour Theme Challenge over on the UK Stampers Forum whose theme is Pansy Colours (credit to Design Seeds).  Please do join us in the Forum we are always looking to welcome new members !

I started with a 5 x 7 inch white card blank. I cut some purple textured card and applied this as a mat on the front of the card.  Then I cut another rectangle of white card and onto this stamped multiple wildflower stamps from Crafty Individuals in Memento Dye inks and Versamagic Chalk inks in the colourway.  I also stamped a butterfly as shown.  Glossy Accents were applied selectively to highlight some of the stamping and a Micron pen was used to add some shadows.  The completed mat was then edged in green chalk ink and applied on foam pads onto the card.

The sentiment was stamped onto more white card in Versafine black ink, trimmed and mounted as shown.

Finishing touch was to add some violet glossy dots on the corners.

Let's Face It Postcard

I have made my monthly postcard for February for the Swap over on the UK Stampers Forum Facebook Group.  This months title is 'Let's Face It'.

I cut a piece of white Card to 6 x 4 inches and stamped the Tim Holtz 'David' image in Versfine black ink.  I also stamped another as a mask and masked off the image.  The borders were then coloured with barn door Distress ink applied with cut'n'dry foam and this was overstamped with a text stamp in walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Some splashes of water were added and blotted with a paper towel.

I then used the negative mask and coloured the face image with antique linen Distress Ink, I then cut some apertures in the face mask and applied more walnut stain Distress Ink on a music stamp through the apertures.  The white of his eye was coloured with white Posca Marker.

I also stamped some keys as shown in black Versafine and used some self adhesive alphas to spell out 'David'.  I finally sprayed the card with matte acrylic varnish to protect the postcard through the post.

Fragile Heart ......

Here is a card I made called 'Fragile Heart' .  I started with a 5 x 7 inch white textured cardblank as the base and cut a matt 4.5 x 3.5 inches from more white card.  This was then stamped using a Stampers Anonymous grungy background stamp multiple times in Impress Dye Ink (Ultramarine, Pale Aqua, Indigo Blue, Lavender & Celeste Blue)  more ultramarine was added around the stamped matt using cut'n'dry foam.

The black and white chevrons were made by covering white card with Washi tape and trimming to shape with the paper trimmer.  These were then applied over the stamped matt on foam pads to form a rectangle.

I then diecut hearts and arrows in Blue and Lime card and applied over the chevrons as shown.

The matt was stuck in place and a Stampers Anonymous word was stamped as shown in Black Vesafine ink with another blue heart next to it.

My Heart ........

Happy Tuesday everyone !!  This is a card recently made in the CAS style (plenty of white space).  I started with a 5.5 x 5.5 inch plain white card and cut a slightly smaller matt in more white card to work on.

I cut some more white card into 1 inch strips and applied Tim Holtz tissue tape in a double row onto these strips.  They were cut into various lengths and then cut into as shown to act as bunting.

The matt was then stamped with Distress Inks in Crushed Olive and Fired Brick with an inksplat stamp from Tim Holtz.

I next took some red card and diecut a stitched heart.  The pennant pieces were applied on redline tape at the top and raised with foam pads.  I then cut a few nicks out of the matt and wound the fibres rouns as shown starting and finishing with some adhesive tape behind the matt to hold it in place.

The heart was then placed as shown and mounted on foam pads.  I then stamped the sentiment (Woodware) in Versafine black ink and addedd a bit of hand drawn decoration with a Micron Pen.

Final touch was to add three self adhesive sparkly gems.

January Postcard

We are currently running a post card swap over on the new Facebook Group - UK Stampers Forum. The theme is 'Anything Goes' so any subject.  I started with a 6 x 4 inch white card base and my entry uses a printed paper background in pale pink overstamped with a number of Octopode Factory stamps in black Memento ink.  I also used a couple of My Minds Eye stamps.  I have used Alcohol ink markers to colour and applied a little Stickles glitter.  The border is drawn with a 0.5 Micron Pen.

Because the postcard will be sent 'naked' I have given it a quick spray with matt acrylic sealer to withstand the vagaries of the postal system.

Please feel free to join the group and take part, all details are available on the Group site ....... Click HERE to go there.

Happy New Year & Spring Wreath

Firstly may I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2017 !

This is also my first project of 2017, a curled paper wreath !  I started with a polystyrene wreath form which was 25cm diameter.

I chose papers which I have had for ages (DCWV - Florals 12 x 12 stack). I used only two designs in green and pink, one a pink floral and the other a green & pink stripe.  In total I used 6 sheets.

I cut the sheets into half inch strips on the paper trimmer and then curled these from the centre of a strip outwards in both directions. I used a bone folder and my thumb to do this.  When I had curled all the strips I used plain headed pins to attach the curled strips to the polystyrene form in a random fashion until the form was totally covered.

Finishing touch was to add a length of white/pink spotty ribbon with more pins.  I wondered whether to add a flourish with the word 'Spring' but decided not too.  Also this would make a great table centrepiece with a battery candle in the middle. What do you think?
