Wasp Waste?

This clean and simple card was made for the challenge over at The Less Is More challenge blog for this week which is to follow a sketch. Why not pop on over there to see the sketch and enter ?

I know the title is weird but I really couldn't find my bee stamp as I wanted to make the wording say 'Bee Line'.  I could only find a wasp stamp, so looked at the word associations and ended up with the words 'Wasp Waste' Hope that provides an explanation.

I started by making a white card blank.

I cut a piece of heavy yellow vellum as shown, adhered a length of narrow black velvet ribbon on double sided tape before sticking in place.  The ribbon covered up the spots of glue behind.

The wasp stamp is by Tim Holtz and was stamped on a light yellow card plate in Memento onyx black ink.  The wasp was coloured with alcohol ink markers and given a gloss with Glossy Accents before mounting as shown on foam pads.

The word were printed on black Dymo tape and adhered with a short length of complimentary velvet ribbon between.

Think Homely Pink ............

Here is a little hanging plaque I have crafted.

I started with a chipboard diecut of a house which I covered in stripey paper.  I then used a stamp and Memento bamboo ink and stamped a collage stamp.

I used a swirl mask and Distress inks in barn door and dusty concorde applied through the mask with cut'n'dry foam.

I then stamped some bunting across the roof area in Memento onyx black ink. I heat embossed the edge of the roof with magenta embossing powder as I did with two chipboard chevrons which became the window tops.

The wordplate was made from stamped letters on pink cardstock matted over a pink gingham diecut.  This was placed as shown on foam pads and embellished with a couple of red faux gems.  I then used the same gems and outlined the roof edge and chimney.  I stuck some printed paper behind the window apertures.

I coloured a metal heart with alcohol ink and placed on the roof, applied a few cream paper roses as shown and outlined lots of areas with a pink and gold Posca pens to finish.

This could also be displayed with a chipboard stand at the back.

Panto PC

We have a monthly themed postcard swap over on UK Stampers Forum.  This is mine for January 2015 and the theme is 'Panto'

Must admit I did struggle a bit but ended up using a background of Graphic 45 paper.  I then stamped with Memento ink and decorated the surface using a variety of stamps.

I used alpha stickers to spell out the words and Stickles glitter glues and posca markers to decorate the hearts and produce the edge design. I have sprayed to seal, with matt acrylic sealer.

This card will be sent through the post as it is.

Endless Friends ......

Another clean & simple card meeting the challenge this week on the 'Less Is More Challenge Blog' whose theme is 'Friends'.

The card started it's life with a 5 x 5 inch square white card blank.

I have collaged 6 x 6 inch papers from American Crafts as shown in a theme of grey, lemon, mint green an dark pink.

The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink and was stamped in Archival black, trimmed out and placed on foam pads.

A few contrasting colour brads were added as shown to finish.

New Beginnings ....

My first card of the New Year !  To be honest I have been so busy that I have had no time to craft.  Anyway here it is.

Very simply done by stamping the main image and sentiment in Memento black ink first on a 5 x 5 inch white card blank.

Then smooshing some lemon yellow Impress dye ink over the main image direct from the inkpad.  I have coloured the leaves with a lime green alcohol ink marker and just gone round the edges with a squiggly line with a 0.1 mm Micron pen.

Christmas Wreath

Christmas is always time for door decorations and festive makes.  This paper wreath was inspired by my dear friend Jean and this is my take on it.

All made from printed and pearlescent papers and is around 12 inches diameter.

It sits on a round base and each of the double cones is made from an oval of the paper.

The decorations inside the cones are diecut from pearlescent paper as is the central poinsettia.

The centre is decorated with some faux gem mesh coloured green with an alcohol marker.

It now languishes on my inner porch door.

Frosty !

Ta daa !!  Let me introduce 'Frosty' the snowman  !

My good friend Effie, at a recent craft weekend, gave us a project class to make one of these fab snowman decorations, thanks a lot for the tuition and this is my resultant creation.

His body is filled with rice and is both squigy and weighty and made from cream velvet which has been embellished with Brilliance pearlescent inks and a rubber icicle stamp which has been heat embossed into the pile side of the velvet by ironing onto the inked stamp.  Some pale blue heat set jems have been added randomly.  The body was cut from a circle and gathered with strong thread after filling with the rice.

His head was made from a polystyrene ball coated with Snowtex and glittered whilst still wet.  His eyes are black sparkly brads, his nose a whittled piece of wood coloured orange with an alcohol marker and his mouth is 5 black glass headed pins.  His neck is a piece of thin dowel pushed into the base of the ball.

His ruffs are made from patterned paper and tulle netting.  His hat is made from the same patterned paper made into a cone and embellished with some pompom ribbon and a crystal snowflake stuck in place with hot melt glue.

Once complete his head was stuck on the body with hot melt glue.  I have also added some extra Stickles glitter glue on the ruff and hat to finish.

I love him and Doesn't he look great ?

Pink Emporium .........

Bit of a different colourway for Christmas on this card.  I have used a 5 inch square white card as the base and layered 3 contrasting papers onto this.

I next added some thin black velvet ribbon on double sided tape across the card.

The sentiment is one from Graphic 45 and was stamped in Versafine black in onto a piece of pink textured card and trimmed out.  This was edged in black ink and mounted over the ribbon on foam pads.

I then added some pink faux gems as shown to finish the card.

Definitely very non-traditional !
