The Star .........

This weeks challenge over on the Less is More Challenge Blog for week 197 is 'Starry Starry Night'.

I made this card as my entry.

I used a 5 x 5 white card blank as the base.

I have stamped a cloudscape with a single star using a series of stamps from Stamp In The Hand.  I love these stamps as they just look fab for an atmospheric sky effect.  Black Memento ink was used to allow me to colour them with Marvey alcohol ink brushpens.

I used bright yellow to highlight the single star.

The sentiment is from PaperArtsy and was stamped in Versafine black ink, trimmed out and matted on another square coloured with the same yellow pen before placing on foam pads.

Also entering this into the 'Shine' theme at the Inkspirational Challenge Blog No.69.

Simples !

Bunny Love !!

This little card featuring a cute bunny and was made from a 5 x 7 inch white card blank.  I used a set of letter dies to cut out the word 'LOVE' as shown, carefully positioning the dies before cutting with some low tack masking tape.  Once done I lined the inside front of the card with some plain pink cardstock trimmed to size and this was adhered to show through the letters.

I then stamped a little bunny in black Memento ink and coloured this with Copic markers.  I applied some Glossy Accents to bunnies paws and once dry trimmed him out, sticking him in place through the letter O.

Finishing touch was to tie a piece of lovely checked ribbon around the card as shown and that's it !!

My Deer .........

More on a Christmas theme in this post.  The City Stamper Challenge Blog for week 236 is asking us to make a craft project featuring a deer so I made this.

I decided to make a little simple Christmassy hanging after having pulled out a load of embossed Grungeboard which has sat there in my stash, unused for ages.  I diecut a circle from the swirly Grungeboard and painted it with some beige acrylic paint. as the centre background.

The leaves were next diecut from a Tim Holtz tattered leaves Sizzix die from some green striped paper.  These were stuck in place behind the grungeboard centre as shown.

The deer again was diecut (TH Sizzix) from more of the same grungeboard, which this time was painted red.  A layer of dries clear glue was spread over the painted surface and some glamour dust glitter adhered for a bit of glitz. It was mounted on double foam pads to raise it off the surface.

Next I added a circle of faux clear gems and mounted the deer on foam pads.  I cut a hole with a crop-a-dile at the top and added a few strands of jute twine tied through to form a hanger to finish.

I was going to add a sentiment but thought that it looked better without.  What do you think?

Christmas is coming ........

Yes I know it's only the 2nd November but .......... we have been asked to do some Christmas cards using non-traditional colours by the Less Is More Challenge Blog for week 196.

My first card uses diecuts and embossing but no stamping.  I loved the pink and blue theme where I have emphasized the embossed snowflakes with some blue dye ink (Memento).  I have edged the embossed plate with blue glitter embossing powder applied with Versamark and heat embossed with a heat gun.  The underlying diecut is made from pink pearlised card.

The word plate is gold embossed and mounted on foam pads.

My second card is entirely stamped (apart from a little bit of black paper lace) with Versafine onyx black ink.

I have kept it monochrome for simplicity.

The Spook

Another Halloween card here ! Once more in a not-too-scary manner ! Don't want to frighten the kids.

Again collage has been used by trimming out some 12 x 12 inch printed papers and mounting on a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

I have applied some coloured fine velvet ribbon on double sided tape in purple, black, orange, and glazed the 'Spook' word with Glossy Accents.

I have added some black faux jewels.

And mounted some of the collage items on foam pads to add dimension.

Happy Halloween everyone !

Eeeky Spooky !

Another card made to celebrate Halloween !  I have collaged the elements which have been cut from 12 x 12 inch papers.

I have used a 6 x 6 inch white card blank as the base.  The 'Halloween' word is put together with self adhesive stickers.

Some orange faux gems and Distress Stickles in black soot with some corners added with a fine Micron Pen finish the card.

Hope everyone has an Eeeky Spooky night on 31st October !

Ghouls & Ghosties !

The end of October heralds that part of the year when all things creepy are celebrated with Halloween ! It's becoming more and more popular each year here in the UK.

I made a card to convey (in a light-hearted, not-too-scary way) the spirit of the occasion which takes place on 31st October and is a great time for kids to get dressed up, go to parties and go 'trick or treating'.

It uses printed 12 x 12 inch printed papers which I have collaged onto a 6 x 6 inch white square card blank.

Some elements have been raised on foam pads. Some glazed with Glossy Accents.

I have added a few spots of graphite Stickles to the central plate and finished with some edging with a Micron Pen.  This card also fits the bill for the City Crafter Challenge for week 235 whose subject is 'Stripes'.

Have a 'Spooktacular' time everyone !

Toil & Trouble .....

The witching hour is nearly upon us so I wanted to share this card with you.  It started it's existence on a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

I have made a collage using printed papers which have been embellished with self adhesive faux gems which I have coloured with Marvey alcohol ink pens.  If you have AI pens then it is really easy to buy clear gems and colour your own to suit your needs.

I am sure you will all recognise the wording by Mr Shakespeare which has been matted on black card and mounted on foam pads.

The eye sockets of the skeletons have been glazed with Glossy Accents too, but these do not show so well in the pic !

I've Got To Hand it to You !

Couldn't help selecting the post title !!  This card has been made as my entry into the Less Is More Challenge Blog for week 195 whose theme is 'Newsprint'.

I really wanted to keep it simple so I used a very old yellowing page from a textbook as the base and stamped with a Stampers Anonymous hand stamp (Tim Holtz) in Memento tuxedo black ink.

I then tore around the image and applied it to a white 6 x 6 inch card base with tacky glue applied on the back and spread with a foam spreader to ensure coverage.

I found a printed journal label from my stash and I cut this to size and used a set of Alphas to stamp out the words 'The Hand of Fate' which were stamped in black Versafine ink. I added a little swirl by hand. The label was applied on foam pads.

The art of palm reading is called Palmistry or Chiromancy, meaning hand prediction, hence the title.

Evidence Of Art

I love to make collage cards and here is one of them using a variety of decorative elements pulled together on a Kraft card base.  It's very fulfilling when during the design process the colours come together as a whole.

I have used printed papers & images, rub-ons, Washi tape, inks, a leaf, a paper flower with a pearl, transparent printed tape and a stamped sentiment on this card.

I have used Memento inks and a PaperArtsy sentiment for the stamped elements.

I think the little green birdie brings it all together and acts as a focal point.
