Stags House .....

Here is a little house made as a standing Christmas decoration ....

I used a die and diecut the house parts from heavy card.  The roof was made from a strip of corrugated board.  The walls were covered in decorative papers before assembly.

The deer was stamped in black archival ink onto Kraft card and diecut.  This was mounted on the front of the house on a foam pad.  The star at the top was diecut and heat embossed in kaleidascope embossing powder.  The decoration was made from twigs, greenery and white cones tied together with natural twine.  A little bow of red gingham ribbon was then added with hot glue and the whole thing attached with hot glue.

The roof was daubed with white acrylic paint before distressing to remove some of the top layer of corrugated.  Finally very coarse glass glitter was adhered on hot glue on the roof and at the base to finish the house .....

I started with a 6 x 6 inch white card base.  I then diecut a white matt and a slightly smaller pearlescent cream matt.  I then diecut the scribbly hearts and the sentiment in more white card and applied as shown.  I finished the card with a cream satin bow and 3 adhesive pearls.

The matts were applied on foam pads onto the card front.

Tagging in the Garden ....

Made a tag for a monthly Swap over on UK Stampers Forum Facebook Group .....

I made a background on white card with Distress Oxides and cut a larger pink matt from card.

The urn, leaves and hydrangeas were stamped on white card with a set of layering stamps (Kitchen Sink a US company) and Memento inks.  These were trimmed out and mounted on foam pads onto the matt as shown.  I used a piece of ribbon as the stem for the topiary design.

I stamped the words in Versafine black (Woodware) and doodled with white and black pens as shown.

The eyelet was applied with the Cropadile and some ribbons threaded through to finish.

'Mingo Tag .....

It's been a while since I posted, or crafted even !  This tag was made for a monthly decorated tag swap over on the UK Stampers Forum Facebook Group.

I used mainly diecuts to make it.  I started with white card and cut two stitched edge matts.  Onto the first matt I applied Distress Stains in tattered rose as splats direct from the stain.  I dried these splats with the heat gun.

I then stamped the word 'Joy' in black Versafine ink as shown.

The Mingo was diec ut from pink card with its wing from some spotty paper.  The wing was applied and the spots centred with white Posca pen.  The bird was then stuck in place over to the right of the matt.

I used a Cropadile to punch a hole in the larger matt and apply a silver eyelet through wich I tied some pink fibres and pale pink spotty organza ribbon.

I then added three pink pearl cabochons as shown to finish the Tag !

Home Sweet Home .....

Recently posted a Gothic Arch I made, so have been working on this one to hopefully revive them !  This one is done in a 'Home' theme !

The base was cut from card and was covered in a piece of green/yellow metallic fantasy paper.  I then took a piece of scrap card and stamped a swirl stamp (PaperArtsy) a few times in Versafine onyx black to form what look liked a swirly tree.  This was coloured with shabby shutters Distress ink and cut'n'dry foam before being trimmed out and stuck in place.

The house and roof was cut from chipboard which was painted in pale yellow acrylic paint and allowed to dry.  Once dry the roof was stamped with a little music stamp (Crafty Individuals) in terracotta Memento dye ink.  The house body was then stamped with Brilliance pearlescent ivy ink and another Crafty Individuals stamp.  The edges of the roof and house body were then edged with shabby shutters and scattered straw Distress ink using cut'n'dry foam. Some chestnut brown chalk ink was applied around the edges of the roof and house body.

The windows of the house were backed with some heart printed vellum and the door with some printed paper which were just glued on.  The bottom of the house was edged with a scrap of home coloured paper cut with decorative scissors.

The heart was again made from chipboard which was inked with Versamark ink and heat embossed with butterscotch ranger embossing powder.  This was edged in chestnut brown chalk ink and attached to a short piece of florists wire with pliers and a twist.  The words were stamped onto white card in Versafine onyx black coloured with scattered straw Distress ink and trimmed out.

The printed ribbon (PaperArtsy) was trimmed to fit and applied along the bottom with double sided tape.  The house parts were attached with sticky dots, with the wire from the heart trapped behind the house.  The words were stuck in place and a few dabs of Stickles glitter glue applied as shown whilst the whole arch was edged in chestnut brown chalk ink to finish.

Roll on that revival !

Happy New Year & Spring Wreath

Firstly may I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2017 !

This is also my first project of 2017, a curled paper wreath !  I started with a polystyrene wreath form which was 25cm diameter.

I chose papers which I have had for ages (DCWV - Florals 12 x 12 stack). I used only two designs in green and pink, one a pink floral and the other a green & pink stripe.  In total I used 6 sheets.

I cut the sheets into half inch strips on the paper trimmer and then curled these from the centre of a strip outwards in both directions. I used a bone folder and my thumb to do this.  When I had curled all the strips I used plain headed pins to attach the curled strips to the polystyrene form in a random fashion until the form was totally covered.

Finishing touch was to add a length of white/pink spotty ribbon with more pins.  I wondered whether to add a flourish with the word 'Spring' but decided not too.  Also this would make a great table centrepiece with a battery candle in the middle. What do you think?

Happy Birthday .......

I made this birthday card using a 5 x 5 inch square white card base. I then trimmed a matt from pale green card and stuck a trimmed Gelli plate background I had previously made using acrylic paints and a stencil onto this.

The ribbon was made from purple satin ribbon and adhered over the mat with red line tape.

The sentiment and heart (Stampin' Up) were stamped on white card with Memento grape jelly dye ink.  This was trimmed and mounted on foam pads over a piece of mauve hammered card.

3 pearlescent cabochons were added on the ribbon to finish.

Easter Bunny Box

Happy Easter Monday to you all !!

Here is a little Easter ornament I made with crafty friends at a weekend retreat in Skipton. Great for displaying eggs and the like in a box suspended between two Easter Bunnies with fluffy tails.  It measures 19 x 13 x 7 cms and is made from very heavy greyboard using Sizzix XL dies for the bunny and the box between.

I used papers from the Lawn Fawn double sided 'Fruit Punch' range which have a zingy bright look to them.  The pieces of greyboard were first covered both sides with the selected papers and then diecut.

Next the box was diecut out of greyboard, folded and covered with more papers from the range.

The box was stuck in place to support the two bunnies to complete the construction.  Decorations were then added ...... a ribbon collar was tied in place and a daisy flower with leaves was applied both sides with hot melt glue.  A shiny acrylic 'Eye' was stuck in place and a fluffy bunny tail pom-pom added at the rear.

The decoration was filled with mini chocolate eggs and foiled chocolate treats to finish.

Bright, decorative and tasty all at the same time !!

Tree of Love ......

Here we go with another Card Candi card !  Started with a 5 x 5 inch card blank and then matted the background onto blue card before applying to the card.

Colour theme this time is blue and pink with some Glossy Accents added over the flowers to highlight !.

I have embellished with some thin pink grosgrain ribbon and a bow applied with super sticky tape.

The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink and is stamped in Memento black ink on some card coloured pink with an alcohol ink marker.  It has been trimmed out and applied on foam pads to finish.

Frosty !

Ta daa !!  Let me introduce 'Frosty' the snowman  !

My good friend Effie, at a recent craft weekend, gave us a project class to make one of these fab snowman decorations, thanks a lot for the tuition and this is my resultant creation.

His body is filled with rice and is both squigy and weighty and made from cream velvet which has been embellished with Brilliance pearlescent inks and a rubber icicle stamp which has been heat embossed into the pile side of the velvet by ironing onto the inked stamp.  Some pale blue heat set jems have been added randomly.  The body was cut from a circle and gathered with strong thread after filling with the rice.

His head was made from a polystyrene ball coated with Snowtex and glittered whilst still wet.  His eyes are black sparkly brads, his nose a whittled piece of wood coloured orange with an alcohol marker and his mouth is 5 black glass headed pins.  His neck is a piece of thin dowel pushed into the base of the ball.

His ruffs are made from patterned paper and tulle netting.  His hat is made from the same patterned paper made into a cone and embellished with some pompom ribbon and a crystal snowflake stuck in place with hot melt glue.

Once complete his head was stuck on the body with hot melt glue.  I have also added some extra Stickles glitter glue on the ruff and hat to finish.

I love him and Doesn't he look great ?

Bunny Love !!

This little card featuring a cute bunny and was made from a 5 x 7 inch white card blank.  I used a set of letter dies to cut out the word 'LOVE' as shown, carefully positioning the dies before cutting with some low tack masking tape.  Once done I lined the inside front of the card with some plain pink cardstock trimmed to size and this was adhered to show through the letters.

I then stamped a little bunny in black Memento ink and coloured this with Copic markers.  I applied some Glossy Accents to bunnies paws and once dry trimmed him out, sticking him in place through the letter O.

Finishing touch was to tie a piece of lovely checked ribbon around the card as shown and that's it !!

The Spook

Another Halloween card here ! Once more in a not-too-scary manner ! Don't want to frighten the kids.

Again collage has been used by trimming out some 12 x 12 inch printed papers and mounting on a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

I have applied some coloured fine velvet ribbon on double sided tape in purple, black, orange, and glazed the 'Spook' word with Glossy Accents.

I have added some black faux jewels.

And mounted some of the collage items on foam pads to add dimension.

Happy Halloween everyone !

Hello .......

With Autumn in full swing it's nice to see some florals in pastel colours to brighten up those darker days, so I made this card.

I started with a decal edge cream card (11 x 15 cm).  All inks used on this card are Memento and I first stamped the crackle effect background (Hampton Art) on white card by selectively inking with various colours which were dandelion, Bahama blue, pear tart, potters clay, London fog & lilac posies.

I then used cut'n'dry foam and the same colurs to shade the white card.

When complete I matted this twice on dark pink and purple textured card.

The flowers were stamped in a similar way using the same colours of Memento and were then trimmed out and edged with black ink.  The centres of the flowers were embellished with some blue faux jewel mesh which was cut down and applied with Glossy Accents.  The petals were shaped to add dimension.

Once the position of the flowers was decided I applied two stems and some leaves made from fine green grosgrain ribbon applied on thin double sided tape as shown before mounting the flowers on foam pads.

The word plate stamp (Woodware) was inked in Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped on white card and coloured with the same inks.  This was matted on some cream card and applied on foam pads to finish.

I think the pastel colours create an almost watercoloured effect.

This card fits the requirements for the Craft Stamper Magazine 'Take It - Make It' Challenge for October which wants entrants to use the multicoloured stamping technique featured in the November edition of the magazine.

Going Green ......

Thought I would 'Go Green' with this card, but neither green in the environmental way nor with envy either.  No, green as in the colour Green instead !

I diecut some paper flowers from an old book (Tattered Florals TH) on the Sizzix.  They were then sprayed with Dylusions ink sprays and allowed to dry.  I cut a piece of white card and applied 3 of the flowers onto the card with Mod Podge glossy paper medium and a brush and allowed to dry.  The card was then trimmed and the remaining white areas treated with peeled paint Distress ink.  Where the Mod Podge hadn't sealed the card the ink soaked into the porous paper and produced a shaded background which I liked.

I then added a length of lime grosgrain ribbon and a diamante ribbon slider and applied the ribbon on red-line double sided tape.

Three fabric flowers were added for dimension over the paper flowers and were secured with green pearl brads in the flower centres.

The plate was matted twice. First on some printed paper and second onto gold mirri board before being stuck onto the white card blank.

Finishing touch was to add the round green sentiment saying 'Thankyou'.

This card meets the requirements of the Artful Times Challenge No. 66 whose theme is 'Green'.  So why not hop over there and enter one of your green creations too.

Summers End !

Autumn is certainly with us now and the leaves are just breathtaking as they take on their gorgeous colours before they begin to fall to the ground.

This was the inspiration for this decorated tin which has been upcycled from previously holding sweets from Taiwan.

I used  some 12 x 12 leafy printed paper and trimmed to fit the tin.  This was stuck in place and over-decorated with some strips of tissue tape from TH Ranger.

I then applied some spotty grosgrain ribbon at the top and bottom as shown on red-line tape.  The leaves were diecut with the Sizzix using the tattered leaves die from TH out of gold foiled paper which had been coloured with Adirondak alcohol inks and an applicator in rust, cranberry & butterscotch.

The leaves were applied on sticky pads after scoring the veins with a pair of scissors.  Final touches were to add the words using self adhesive letter to spell out 'Summers End'.

This fits the bill also for the City Crafters Challenge Blog for week 232 whose subject is 'Leaves'.

Someone Special !

A very pink card today !!  Wind is blowing hard outside as I finish this.  The peppermint green card base is 6 x 6 inches and has been matted with some pretty pearlescent print paper.

The chipboard frame was cut using a frames mover and shaper die from TH Sizzix.  This was heat embossed using a Versamark inkpad and a couple of coats of Blond Moments spring tropic lustre embossing powder (this has a fab pearlescent gold overtone, not easy to photograph!).  I have then stamped into it whilst molten with a rubber stamp coated with more Versamark to act as a release.  This has added some texture too !

The frame was stuck in place as shown and the paper flowers in shades of pink towards maroon added at each of two opposite sides of the frame.  The centres have been highlighted with dark brown dimensional pearls.

The dotty embellishments were made on a craft sheet by squeezing dots of Glossy Accents which were then loaded with TuTu Beadazzles and allowed to dry.  Once dry they were peeled off the craft sheet and applied as shown.  I thought they looked very much like the coated jelly's in Liquorice Allsorts !

The pink paper ribbon on the left was embellished with dots of worn lipstick Distress Stickles and stuck in place.

The sentiment was stamped on pink card in Archival sepia ink and edged with the same ink before trimming out and mounting in place with foam pads.  The maroon ribbon bow was added on a foam pad to finish.

It's in the air !

This CAS card was made to be very minimalist.  It's on a 4.5 x 4.5 inch white card base.  I have used a set of polymer stamps from Craftwork Cards of grasses which I have inked with TH Distress Inks in spiced marmalade, peeled paint, mustard seed & fired brick.  They were simply stamped in a line.

I then applied a strip of some fine maroon velvet ribbon with double sided tape along the base of the grasses.

The word plate was made by stamping the words with Archival black ink on white card and matting onto some maroon card to match.  This was adhered on foam pads to finish.

Easy to make but I think it's quite effective.  This fits the bill for this weeks new challenge from the Less is More Blog challenge for week 179 the theme of which is 'Earthtones'.

Little Boxes

Here wishing everyone a fab Bank Holiday weekend.  Nice to have a little more time to do what we want to rather than what we have to !

Here are a few little boxes I have made with a Sizzix box die.

I have also used a mover and shaper die to cut a keyhole in the top of one of them.  They have simply been decorated with printed papers and bits of ribbon. Loads of potential uses for these.

Have fun !

Mums Card & Box

Happy Mothers Day to you all and especially to my own Mum !!

This is my Mum's card & gift for this Mothers Day.  The card was made using some digi papers cut into equal sized blocks and mounted as shown.

The two layered plates were made using a Sizzix die, one on blue card and one on white.  Both were applied on foam pads to raise them.  The sentiment was stamped in Archival black ink. Finishing touch was to add a paper flower on a sticky dot.

The box was made using another large matchbox Sizzix die.  This was cut out, assembled and covered in panels of similar papers.  The bow was added to finish.

Hope she likes it ........... guess what's in the box !
