Mums Card & Box

Happy Mothers Day to you all and especially to my own Mum !!

This is my Mum's card & gift for this Mothers Day.  The card was made using some digi papers cut into equal sized blocks and mounted as shown.

The two layered plates were made using a Sizzix die, one on blue card and one on white.  Both were applied on foam pads to raise them.  The sentiment was stamped in Archival black ink. Finishing touch was to add a paper flower on a sticky dot.

The box was made using another large matchbox Sizzix die.  This was cut out, assembled and covered in panels of similar papers.  The bow was added to finish.

Hope she likes it ........... guess what's in the box !

The Romantic Road

I love to use Kraft card, it possesses such a natural colour which blends well with earthy tones.  This card was made from a 4 x 4 inch base card and I think the colours are lovely.  Papers were selected, cut and applied as shown. Distress inks were used to edge most components.

The main image is Moo sized and is a plate made of card, covered in paper and stamped with a chandelier stamp in Archival black ink.  One layer is a die cut circle with a scalloped edge and some Washi tape was used to hold the horizontal papers together.

I have used a sticker to record the date, layered over a printed ticket from 7 Gypsies. Some paper lace, more stamping with arrows and swirls stamps was done.

Crowning glory was the bow fashioned from fab hessian ribbon (available at The Ribbon Girl) which was tied at the centre with some brown twine.

Love Actually

Love is in the air ............. we hope !!  I used a cream card blank as the base.  Then got to work stamping four contemporary hearts using Chocolate Baroque stamps.  I used Memento tuxedo black so that I could use alcohol inks to colour some of the design in red.  Memento just does not bleed with alcohol inks and I prefer it to Archival.

The hearts were stamped on white card and cut out before colouring.  I also used a gold Posca marker to infill some of the areas.  Some spaces were left white too. The sentiment (also from Chocolate Baroque) was stamped on white card with Versamark ink and heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder.  The sentiment plate was coloured round the edge with the same red AI pen.

The hearts were mounted as shown with the top edges held in place with foam pads which also trapped a fine piece of red gosgrain ribbon entwined round the hearts.

The sentiment plate was placed on foam pads over a strip of red Washi tape to finish.

This meets the City Crafter Challenge for this week No. 198 'Love Bug'.

Love Story

This Valentines card is made from a base of craft board on a card blank.  I have used printed papers with a love theme and layered a number of these on the card.

First layer is a pink horizontal stripe which I have punched through at two corners.

Next Layer is made from pink XO paper matted on some word paper.

Two hearts were stamped on more paper with Versamark and a stamp and these were heat embossed with some Ranger red gloss powder.  These were trimmed out and one applied over the other on foam pads.

I then made a bow from red organza ribbon and applied this as shown.  A metal heart embellishment was then placed beneath the bow whilst another plain metal heart was stuck in place top right.

Most edges were inked with Distress Inks to hide that 'white' edge effect.

Finishing touches were to add some red Stickles glitter glue as shown and to apply a printed sentiment with the words 'Love Story.

This meets the requirements for the City Crafter Challenge Blog No.196 where you have to have a Valentines card or use the word Story ...... I have done both here !

Follow Your Dreams Triptych

I used to like doing the Gothic Arches Challenge but sadly it wrapped up so I had it in my mind to make a triptych ......... and this is it !

I used chipboard and my Sizzix to make three base components with the TH  mini cabinet card movers and shapers die. These were covered with papers from Papermania (capsule collection - sunshine paper pack) also cut out with the die for an accurate fit.

Once stuck in place these were sanded and edged with barn door Distress ink and cut'n'dry foam.  I used a stamp with distressed numbers from PaperArtsy to stamp at the top and bottom of all three panels in sepia Versafine Ink. Followed by a row of stars (bottom) and a swirl (top middle) stamped in Versafine onyx black ink

Next I adhered some swirly red satin diecut ribbon across each of the panels.

I then stamped three tickets from 7 Gypsies with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder.  Each was edged in more Distress Ink and a length of bakers twine added and tied in a knot at the front.  Then some contrasting coloured brads were added to each ticket as shown.

Some more 7Gypsies stamps were then edged in black and these along with the tickets were mounted on foam pads.

The words came from K & Co and were also edged with black and added on foam pads.

Finishing touches were to add some Posca pen gold dots around the top edge of each arch.  The three panels were then hinged together with some Washi tape at the back.

Things I Love

This little hanging is entitled Things I love and of course is made using a chipboard heart which is 13 x 13 cms in size.

I have had a load of Lynne Perrella stamps by PaperArtsy and have hardly used them so thought I would select one as the focal point for this project. In fact all stamps are by PaperArtsy.

First I stamped the image in Memento tuxedo black ink onto white cardstock.  I then tore the edges and coloured the image with Alcohol ink brush markers in shades of purple and pink.  The edges were touched with a gold Posca pen to highlight..

The base heart was covered in a printed paper of distressed letters on black background.  I then used more PaperArtsy stamps inked with Versamark ink and heat embossed with 3 different Moonglow embossing powders for a subtle mica finish (best seen with the naked eye).

Once this was done I took two pieces of ribbon, one turquoise grosgrain and one slightly thinner in purple satin.  The purple satin ribbon was overstamped with another circular LP stamp and more Memento tuxedo black ink and was stuck onto the turquoise with red line tape.  The assembled ribbon band was then stuck in place as shown across the heart.

The heart was then provided with two gold eyelets added with the crop-a-dile and the whole thing edged with more Posca gold pen.  The stamped image was then added on foam pads and the word stickers added as shown.

Finishing touches were to add a length of silk sari ribbon and more of the purple ribbon through the eyelets tied in a rough knot to allow it to be hung.  Just love the colours on this piece.

Clearly Oriental

This acetate book was fashioned from acetate up-cycled from packaging I had in my stash.  Three pieces were used and were trimmed to 12 x 16 cm . Inside the book there are two pages of card making for 5 pages in total.  Each of the pages was scored on the left side to allow for a hinge.

The card was trimmed into approx half pages vertically and these were covered in oriental style fans and guilded papers.  The book can be viewed from the back and the front each with a different visual effect.

The five layers ..... acetate/card/acetate/card/acetate were aligned and trimmed to size with the scored edges on the left.  I then used a crop-a-dile to cut 5 equidistant holes in the hinge and applied gold eyelets to hold the book together. Two red style stones were held in place with some red eyelash fibres threaded through the eyelets which was tied to secure and trimmed.

A mandarin stamp was inked in black Stazon and stamped on gold paper which was carefully trimmed out and adhered with Glossy Accents to the inside of the acetate front cover.

I added numerous other elements including metal embellishments, style stones, Chinese coins, paper lace, wooden sticks, tied threads and ...... wait for it, peel-offs !  Actually they did work quite well on the acetate.  I stamped a stylised dragonfly on a style stone with black Stazon too and stuck this in place on one of the card pages.

Thought I would enter this into the Craft Stamper Take it Make it challenge too !

Very difficult to photograph due to the reflective qualities of the acetate.

Bunny Love

Still thinking about Easter with this card I made.  This time I have used a white 12 cm square card blank as the base. Printed 6 x 6 inch papers from the Prima tea-thyme collection are used throughout to make the layers.  I really like this collection with its subtle blend of pinks and greens.

The cute bunny stamp is by Alice Palace and is available at Crafty Individuals.  This was stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink on some more white cardstock and coloured with Distress Stains in milled lavender, spun sugar & tattered rose before trimming out and adding some gold Posca pen on the crown.

The sentiment plate was trimmed out from the papers and adorned with a gold embossed 'with love' plate.  Some fine velvet ribbon was added over a strip of paper to display the plate.

The green plate behind the bunny was die-cut and embossed through my Big Shot and coloured with a mixture of peeled paint and shabby shutters Distress Stain.  The embossed spots were treated to some more Posca gold.  All mats and components were then assembled (some on foam pads) and some dots of wild plum Adirondack dimensional acrylic added to finish.

Eggy Tag !

Here is my tag for the Easter Tag Competition over on UK Stampers Forum.  The one stipulation is that you have to have eggs somewhere on your tag.

I cut the base tag from white cardstock and covered with papers from Kaisercraft (forget-me-not) and My Minds Eye (rosy) 6 x 6 inch paper pads.  Gorgeous papers and the floral one also has glazed portions over some of the flowers which does not show on the pic.

I printed out the eggs and the dictionary definition on the printer and trimmed and mounted them on more cardstock from the pads.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to produce the bottom border out of gold Mirri Card.

The butterfly is a glossy polymer sticker and the letter were stamped onto pale pink card and matted onto green spotty paper.

I used a black Posca pen to edge the tag and add some faux stitches and Distress inks to edge things. I then assembled the components (some raised on foam pads) and added two lengths of green ribbon through a hole cut with a Crop-a-Dile. Finally I added some liquid pearls to finish.

Over on UK Stampers Forum they are having a competition to do an Easter Style Tag ! There are two prizes up for grabs and all you have to do is upload a picture of your creation to the gallery and the winners will be chosen by random number generator on 31st March 2013.

Why not have a go? You will have to join the forum if you are not already a member but it's free to do so. HERE is a link to the post and HERE is a link to the Gallery where the pics are.

Hot Adoration

She does look a little hot and is being fanned to cool her down ............... hence the title !

Here is an sandwich board card I made where the inside picture hangs and swings freely between the front and back of the card. The base is Kraft and the inside has been trimmed down with the top die-cut with a sizzix border die. This has been passed through an aperture cut with a craft knife at the top of the card.

The front and inside is decorated with papers from Pion and the front panel was trimmed and the paper applied before passing through the sizzix with a Nestie die to make the aperture.

The 'adore' stamp is from Papertrey and the pink velvet ribbon has been threaded through some rose pink eyelets and tied in a bow.  The HOT is rub-ons.  The butterfly has been held in place with a rose brad.  Some pink Stickles glitter glue has been added to finish the card.

It's A Gift !

Here is a little gift bag I have made to house a little gift for a friend.  It's not often that I do anything without stamping but this one definately does not have any.

I have used my Cricut Expression to cut a box from some pretty printed card using the Bags, Tags, Boxes & More cartridge.  The cutout was then assembled into the bag with sticky glue. The edges were gone over with yellow ochre chalk ink.

I have then cut out a few layers of several of the same flowers from a piece of matching printed paper and edged these with Copic marker before applying over the bag and securing with small yellow brads.

The little gift was surrounded by pale pink crumpled tissue and placed in the bag and a piece of pink stitched grosgrain ribbon tied round the handle.

Pretty Face

Here is a card I have made recently incorporating the colours of turquoise and orange.  The card measure 15 x 15cm and is made from stout white card.  The card has been covered on the front with a piece of digital backing paper with an abstract orange/blue colourway.  It is available in my Etsy store.

The mat has been made from turquoise linen effect card and has been punched with Martha Stewart around the page punches.  A piece of narrow orange grosgrain ribbon has then been threaded through the edging and tied in a bow at one corner before mounting onto the card.

The girls face has been stamped with Memento black ink, cut out with a circular die and then coloured with alcohol ink brush markers.  The orange dots have been added using a Sakura Aqualip pen.  The image has been added in the centre with foam pads to add relief.

The 'On Your Birthday' foiled plate was also added on foam pads.

Finishing touches were added by edging with orange chalk ink.

Happy Birthday Bunny

Gorgeous sunny day here in Manchester UK so to bring a little sunshine into your life if you are not getting any sun here is another 15 x 15 cm cute card handcrafted from me featuring 'Warren' the bunny.  This time he is offering the birthday present of 'Carrots' ....... well I suppose for a rabbit that's appropriate.  He has been coloured with Copic markers.  The card is available HERE in my Etsy store if you would like to own it.

He is layered onto an embossed die-cut frame over some candy striped card with a sparkle.

The card is embellished with a lime green grosgrain ribbon and bow.

Some lime green pearls have been added along the bottom of the card to finish.
