The Spook

Another Halloween card here ! Once more in a not-too-scary manner ! Don't want to frighten the kids.

Again collage has been used by trimming out some 12 x 12 inch printed papers and mounting on a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

I have applied some coloured fine velvet ribbon on double sided tape in purple, black, orange, and glazed the 'Spook' word with Glossy Accents.

I have added some black faux jewels.

And mounted some of the collage items on foam pads to add dimension.

Happy Halloween everyone !

Eeeky Spooky !

Another card made to celebrate Halloween !  I have collaged the elements which have been cut from 12 x 12 inch papers.

I have used a 6 x 6 inch white card blank as the base.  The 'Halloween' word is put together with self adhesive stickers.

Some orange faux gems and Distress Stickles in black soot with some corners added with a fine Micron Pen finish the card.

Hope everyone has an Eeeky Spooky night on 31st October !

Ghouls & Ghosties !

The end of October heralds that part of the year when all things creepy are celebrated with Halloween ! It's becoming more and more popular each year here in the UK.

I made a card to convey (in a light-hearted, not-too-scary way) the spirit of the occasion which takes place on 31st October and is a great time for kids to get dressed up, go to parties and go 'trick or treating'.

It uses printed 12 x 12 inch printed papers which I have collaged onto a 6 x 6 inch white square card blank.

Some elements have been raised on foam pads. Some glazed with Glossy Accents.

I have added a few spots of graphite Stickles to the central plate and finished with some edging with a Micron Pen.  This card also fits the bill for the City Crafter Challenge for week 235 whose subject is 'Stripes'.

Have a 'Spooktacular' time everyone !

Toil & Trouble .....

The witching hour is nearly upon us so I wanted to share this card with you.  It started it's existence on a 6 x 6 inch white card blank.

I have made a collage using printed papers which have been embellished with self adhesive faux gems which I have coloured with Marvey alcohol ink pens.  If you have AI pens then it is really easy to buy clear gems and colour your own to suit your needs.

I am sure you will all recognise the wording by Mr Shakespeare which has been matted on black card and mounted on foam pads.

The eye sockets of the skeletons have been glazed with Glossy Accents too, but these do not show so well in the pic !

I've Got To Hand it to You !

Couldn't help selecting the post title !!  This card has been made as my entry into the Less Is More Challenge Blog for week 195 whose theme is 'Newsprint'.

I really wanted to keep it simple so I used a very old yellowing page from a textbook as the base and stamped with a Stampers Anonymous hand stamp (Tim Holtz) in Memento tuxedo black ink.

I then tore around the image and applied it to a white 6 x 6 inch card base with tacky glue applied on the back and spread with a foam spreader to ensure coverage.

I found a printed journal label from my stash and I cut this to size and used a set of Alphas to stamp out the words 'The Hand of Fate' which were stamped in black Versafine ink. I added a little swirl by hand. The label was applied on foam pads.

The art of palm reading is called Palmistry or Chiromancy, meaning hand prediction, hence the title.

Evidence Of Art

I love to make collage cards and here is one of them using a variety of decorative elements pulled together on a Kraft card base.  It's very fulfilling when during the design process the colours come together as a whole.

I have used printed papers & images, rub-ons, Washi tape, inks, a leaf, a paper flower with a pearl, transparent printed tape and a stamped sentiment on this card.

I have used Memento inks and a PaperArtsy sentiment for the stamped elements.

I think the little green birdie brings it all together and acts as a focal point.

Hello .......

With Autumn in full swing it's nice to see some florals in pastel colours to brighten up those darker days, so I made this card.

I started with a decal edge cream card (11 x 15 cm).  All inks used on this card are Memento and I first stamped the crackle effect background (Hampton Art) on white card by selectively inking with various colours which were dandelion, Bahama blue, pear tart, potters clay, London fog & lilac posies.

I then used cut'n'dry foam and the same colurs to shade the white card.

When complete I matted this twice on dark pink and purple textured card.

The flowers were stamped in a similar way using the same colours of Memento and were then trimmed out and edged with black ink.  The centres of the flowers were embellished with some blue faux jewel mesh which was cut down and applied with Glossy Accents.  The petals were shaped to add dimension.

Once the position of the flowers was decided I applied two stems and some leaves made from fine green grosgrain ribbon applied on thin double sided tape as shown before mounting the flowers on foam pads.

The word plate stamp (Woodware) was inked in Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped on white card and coloured with the same inks.  This was matted on some cream card and applied on foam pads to finish.

I think the pastel colours create an almost watercoloured effect.

This card fits the requirements for the Craft Stamper Magazine 'Take It - Make It' Challenge for October which wants entrants to use the multicoloured stamping technique featured in the November edition of the magazine.

Insect Life !

A simple card today which fits the bill for the Less Is More Challenge for week 194 (Little Creatures).

I used a 5 x 5 white card blank as the base and stamped an ant stamp (Third Coast)  in Memento black ink several times in a random line.

I then inked up the sentiment stamp (PaperArtsy) selectively with multiple colours of Memento ink and stamped on more white card.

This was trimmed out and matted onto some green printed paper and mounted on some foam pads.  Finishing touch was to use a Glaze pen on the words and to add a squiggly line with a Micron pen.

In the Pink

This card was made using a Gelli Plate background made with Adirondak dye inks and a brayer.  The stamping has been done with Versafine ink directly onto the plate after brayering.  Most of the stamps used were outline stamps.

The colouring was done with more Adirondak inks applied with a waterbrush to fill in the petals to the desired colour depth.

I have then applied iridescent glitter over dots of dried clear glue to highlight the images.

The card was trimmed and edged with barn door Distress Ink applied with cut'n'dry foam and matted onto a piece of moss green coloured card.

Soaring Spirit

This is this months postcard for the UK Stampers Postcard Swap.  We had to use a well loved stamped image or a colour theme that we relish in !

For me I have just started becoming a purple and pink (rather than a blue) fancier.  Hence the colour choices for this.  It's a bit spooky too and I have never used these stamps before.

A Gelli Plate background on white card started this 6 x 4 inch postcard.

The images of the lady and birds were added by stamping in Memento onyx black whilst the grunge alphabet was stamped in satin red Versafine ink.  The words were printed on the inkjet printer, stuck in place and edged with fine Micron Pen in black.  Some x's were stamped in Versamagic chalk inks in turquoise and lilac.

Some accents were added with white Posca marker and the edges completed with dusty concord Distress ink applied on cut'n'dry foam.  I have sprayed the card with matt acrylic lacquer to seal.

Two's Company

This one-layer card uses a Zetti image that I have never used ......... until today !  Teesha Moore has stopped making the Zettiology range of stamps so I suppose all these images will become vintage as time goes on.  I have always liked the quirkyness of them too.

I started with a white 4 x 4 inch card blank.  The Zetti stamp was stamped in tuxedo black Memento ink and was coloured minimally with some alcohol ink markers (Marvey Le Plume).

The sentiment is from a stamp set by Paper Artsy and was also stamped in black Memento ink.

Finishing touches were to stamp a small heart stamp in satin red Versafine ink twice as shown.  I also added some Stickles glitter glue on the wings of the .........??? !!!!!

This card meets the Less Is More Challenge for week 193 whose theme is to 'Use 2 of Something'

Going Green ......

Thought I would 'Go Green' with this card, but neither green in the environmental way nor with envy either.  No, green as in the colour Green instead !

I diecut some paper flowers from an old book (Tattered Florals TH) on the Sizzix.  They were then sprayed with Dylusions ink sprays and allowed to dry.  I cut a piece of white card and applied 3 of the flowers onto the card with Mod Podge glossy paper medium and a brush and allowed to dry.  The card was then trimmed and the remaining white areas treated with peeled paint Distress ink.  Where the Mod Podge hadn't sealed the card the ink soaked into the porous paper and produced a shaded background which I liked.

I then added a length of lime grosgrain ribbon and a diamante ribbon slider and applied the ribbon on red-line double sided tape.

Three fabric flowers were added for dimension over the paper flowers and were secured with green pearl brads in the flower centres.

The plate was matted twice. First on some printed paper and second onto gold mirri board before being stuck onto the white card blank.

Finishing touch was to add the round green sentiment saying 'Thankyou'.

This card meets the requirements of the Artful Times Challenge No. 66 whose theme is 'Green'.  So why not hop over there and enter one of your green creations too.

Summers End !

Autumn is certainly with us now and the leaves are just breathtaking as they take on their gorgeous colours before they begin to fall to the ground.

This was the inspiration for this decorated tin which has been upcycled from previously holding sweets from Taiwan.

I used  some 12 x 12 leafy printed paper and trimmed to fit the tin.  This was stuck in place and over-decorated with some strips of tissue tape from TH Ranger.

I then applied some spotty grosgrain ribbon at the top and bottom as shown on red-line tape.  The leaves were diecut with the Sizzix using the tattered leaves die from TH out of gold foiled paper which had been coloured with Adirondak alcohol inks and an applicator in rust, cranberry & butterscotch.

The leaves were applied on sticky pads after scoring the veins with a pair of scissors.  Final touches were to add the words using self adhesive letter to spell out 'Summers End'.

This fits the bill also for the City Crafters Challenge Blog for week 232 whose subject is 'Leaves'.

Autumn Colours

Here is a little Autumnal creation I made and it fits the bill for the Less Is More Challenge for week 192 whose subject is 'Autumn's Bounty'

The colours of the falling leaves are amazing at this time of the year aren't they?

I used a 5 x 5 inch white card blank and low tack masking tape to produce the coloured stripes with Adirondack dye inks in Rust, Butterscotch & Oregano which I applied with Cut'n'dry foam.

I then used a couple of skeleton leaf stamps which I inked with Memento tuxedo black and stamped as shown

Final touch was to add the printed words, edged in black.
