Bunting ........

Another simple card, this time done to celebrate any occasion.  The stamp used is a Lynne Perrella one by PaperArtsy and is stamped using Versafine onyx black on a blank 12 cm square card.

I have selectively coloured in the flags with various Posca pens.

A gold foiled sentiment was added on foam pads to finish.

No.27 Flowers

This weeks entry for my Photobook has the subject 'Flowers' as its theme.  I do love orchids and have a few in the house which do flower for me.  This pic was taken of a recent flowering event of one of them which is a deep pink ....... isn't it fantastic?  I used this as my pic for this weeks entry

The page was decorated with printed papers and stickers.

Clearly Oriental

This acetate book was fashioned from acetate up-cycled from packaging I had in my stash.  Three pieces were used and were trimmed to 12 x 16 cm . Inside the book there are two pages of card making for 5 pages in total.  Each of the pages was scored on the left side to allow for a hinge.

The card was trimmed into approx half pages vertically and these were covered in oriental style fans and guilded papers.  The book can be viewed from the back and the front each with a different visual effect.

The five layers ..... acetate/card/acetate/card/acetate were aligned and trimmed to size with the scored edges on the left.  I then used a crop-a-dile to cut 5 equidistant holes in the hinge and applied gold eyelets to hold the book together. Two red style stones were held in place with some red eyelash fibres threaded through the eyelets which was tied to secure and trimmed.

A mandarin stamp was inked in black Stazon and stamped on gold paper which was carefully trimmed out and adhered with Glossy Accents to the inside of the acetate front cover.

I added numerous other elements including metal embellishments, style stones, Chinese coins, paper lace, wooden sticks, tied threads and ...... wait for it, peel-offs !  Actually they did work quite well on the acetate.  I stamped a stylised dragonfly on a style stone with black Stazon too and stuck this in place on one of the card pages.

Thought I would enter this into the Craft Stamper Take it Make it challenge too !

Very difficult to photograph due to the reflective qualities of the acetate.

Filmstrip Card

Another variation on a theme. This card was made with a Filmstrip stamp (Hobbycraft) stamped in Memento tuxedo black and trimmed into three pieces.  Another block stamp (Hero Arts) was stamped in Adirondack dye inks in slate, denim and eggplant.

Two pieces of Washi tape applied and covered by two of the film strips whilst another was added in the middle right.

The sentiment was edged in grey alcohol ink and adhered with foam pads.

No.1 Self Portrait

My first weekly entry into my Easel Book.  The subject matter for this one is 'Self Portrait' and as you can see I look very transparent indeed !!!

Couldn't resist using this invisible man pic which was printed out with a Pogo printer as the pic for this week. Besides I'm not keen on the way I look and I do usually wear a shirt and tie (not a Bowler) for work each day.

I used printed papers, stickers and embellishments to complete the entry.

The photo was matted on a couple of coloured papers.

See my post HERE for details of the project if you fancy having a go.

A Photo A Week Easel Book

Here is a project designed to have a weekly entry that runs for a year ........ so 52 entries.  My crafty friend Jean had a plan..a photo a week.... there is a subject list posted on the Scattered Scarlet blog. There are 52 of them and the subjects don't have to followed in any particular order as long as you document one a week.

With this one you can start at any time of the year.

I followed Effies idea for making an easel book and made mine in the same way.

I then decorated the front in a suitable fashion mainly using Washi tape, printed paper and stickers from 7 Gypsies along with a little hardware.

I shall be publishing one per week, hopefully ! So watch this space.

Why not join in and let us know what you are all doing?

'The Arrival' Hanging Plaque

It's ages since I used my Sakura souffle pens so I dug them out and did a series of butterfly images using a dovecraft stamp.  These were stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink and then coloured using the souffle pens.  It was so long since I had used them that a couple of them had clogged and could not be resuscitated !  Any ideas on bringing them back to life?

Once done I wondered what I would do with my little creations which eventually were trimmed out with scissors (cutting off the antennae and replacing with brass wire ones attaching with a blob of hot melt glue.

I then found the plain wood hanging frame and that's what gave me the idea for this piece.

Thinking about the souffle pen colours which are very chalky and opaque I then remembered my Jacquard Sherril's Sorbet paints which resemble the souffle colours and finish very well.  They can be used on fabric and heat set but here I just chose blueberry, mint, melon, grape, watermelon and lemon and applied these in blobs directly to the raw wood and blended roughly with a brush until the desired effect was obtained.

Once dry I lined the roof edge with blue dimensional pearls and once these were dry I then used stamps from PaperArtsy, and Docraft to stamp the base border and the wordy moths in more Memento tuxedo black ink.

I lined the inner frame back with some dotty printed paper from a 6 x 6 pad and put this in place with the original glass at the back.  I then used a load of die-cuts to make the flowery background all stuck with either Glossy Accents or hot melt glue.  Some Stickles glitter glue and dimensional pearls were used to embellish them.

The butterflies were stuck in place with more hot melt glue and some metal flower embellishments were added as shown.

Not sure where the sentiment stamp came from but it was stamped on white card in Memento tuxedo black trimmed out and coloured with alcohol ink marker, edging with the same.  This was mounted in place on foam pads to raise it.

Friendly Flower

Like the idea of simple sometimes ?

This little card was done simply with three strips of washi tape cut with an angled end, a stamped image of a flower with Memento tuxedo black, coloured with an alcohol brush marker and a die-cut sentiment plate adhered on foam pads.

A Quilted Table Runner

Decided to do a table runner this time and it measures 97 x 39 cms.

This time I decided to try a charm pack which is a collection of matching colours of pre-cut squares of 5 inch.  The fabric is by Moda.

Lots of cutting with a rotary cutter and sewing the squares together.

This time I used a fusible batting and the quilt back was made from material from a deconstructed 100% cotton duvet cover.

So onwards and upwards !

Birdie Postcard

Here is my postcard for this months UK Stampers Forum swap.  The background is printed paper treated with Versamark ink and brushed over with Perfect Pearls in blue and pink to give an iridescent effect (not easy to see in the pic).

I then stamped the base of the card with Adirondack watermelon pigment ink and a swirly stamp.  I then used some Dylusions stamps by Ranger to stamp the leaves and birdies in Memento black ink.

The birdies were infilled with some Sakura jellyroll gold pens. Some further detail was added with a black Pigma micron pen.

A piece of spotty Washi tape was added above the swirls and three card candi minis were added with Glossy Accents on the left.

The finished design was adhered to a piece of stout card cut to 6 x 4 inches which was then edged with fired brick Distress Ink applied with some cut'n'dry foam. It was sprayed with a matte acrylic varnish to protect in transit through the post naked.

Square Sampler Quilt

Told you I was doing more quilting !  Here is a nine square sampler quilt I have made and it measures 70 cm square.  All the materials were bought in John Lewis at half price and I used a tube method which was sewn together and then cut to form squares which in turn were assembled to give this double egg-timer effect.

As previously reported I am a lot more accurate even though it's still not perfect.  What the heck ...... I am enjoying the journey anyway.

The quilt back was made with a green material and it was quilted with warm & natural all cotton batting.  The whole thing was done on my Janome machine.

Sprout a Smile Card

Made a quick card using Spellbinder dies cut through my Sizzix machine in orange, a plain white card and a piece of 6 x 6 inch printed paper.

The sentiment was stamped in sepia Versafine and some edging added with alcohol marker with a touch of glitter glue.  The fern and flower were mounted on foam pads. Simples !
